Michael Bolton played to a full house at the Puente Romano Hotel in Marbella on Thursday to rapturous applause and swooning women.
Mr Bolton, love him or hate him, he’s a bit of a Marmite man in my books, has a superb voice, and, according to the thousand plus women at the Puente Romano Hotel in Marbella is as fit as a butchers dog.
The show started with the excellent Paul “The Piano Man” Maxwell, who played valiantly without assistance from Michael’s sound boys on the desk or any functioning monitors, bought the crowd alive with his renditions of the classics, I mean Elton John etc not Motzart…
Casually dressed in jeans and jacket, Connecticut born Bolton or Bolotin, from his Russian roots, came on stage to much knicker wetting and cries of “I love you Michael”, well I do now you lost that dreadful mullet…
Now he’s not quite my cup of tea, but clearly I am missing something as two and a half thousand fans thought otherwise as they lapped up his two hour gig in the hotel’s number one tennis court.
I say two hours, but to be fair, he left the stage four times to allow his saxophonist to do a number, his trumpeter to do the same, and then had, and be in no doubt the highlight of the show, Kelly Levesque take the reigns for at least fifteen minutes. So for those who paid to see the full monty (not that kind) of Michael’s repertoire, I’m sure a few were disappointed but on the whole it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, Thanks Kelly it was a pleasure, next time you can come on your own.
